Santosh & Shreya

We went to the Roof of the world! Harish being an avid trekker always wanted to do a couple shoot in Leh, Ladakh. When Shriya and Santosh approached us for an unconventional couple shoot, he suggested an adventurous shoot at Leh to them. On our arrival to Leh, we explored the local markets with the couple so as to acclimatise ourselves to the high altitude. Next day we made our ascent towards, our favorite location, Pangong Lake which is situated at the height of 4250 metres above the sea level. During day time Pangong lake can be described as a white and blue wonderland. It also resembles the nature’s canvas with white sand and never ending white mountains overlooking the lake. But at Sunset , there is a transformation of this monochrome landscape into an electrifying backdrop. A dazzling set of orange, yellow and red spreads across the sky at sunset on Pangong lake. We wanted to observe its beauty for as much time as possible so we spent a night camping at Pangong. Although the pictures look pleasant and our work may look effortless, shooting in Leh was far from easy. As it happens often in mountains, the higher you climb, the thinner the air is and a period of acclimatization is a must. Sometimes despite taking time to acclimatize, one may experience acute mountain sickness that can cause severe nausea, headache and dizziness. For our ascent to Pangong we climbed a height of 750 meters, in addition to the 3,500 meters we’d already climbed to reach Leh. Despite taking precautionary measures, Shankar and one of our team members was extremely sick, even the bride started showing the symptoms of mountain sickness by the third day of shoot but held on and gave us these marvelous shots.
