Vijay & Lekhya
A river, a bridge and an inspiration. Sometimes we plan the pictures that we take and sometimes, without any notice, our eyes lead us to a moment or a scene too beautiful for us to resist capturing it. Nothing inspires a photographer more than an old object or building because old things have a story to tell. On our way to Narsapur we came across Dowleswaram Barrage. It was built in 1850 to control Godavri’s water flow. Harish was inspired by its simplistic beauty. So once the Haldi ceremony finished that afternoon, we requested the bride and groom to get dressed and accompany us. We wanted to do a spontaneous sunset shoot there. So, soon on the banks of Godavri, with a backdrop of mangroves and palm trees growing by the river, Vijay and Lekya stood, dressed in elegant traditional attire. Vijay wore a white ‘Puncha Kattu’ and Lekya wore a yellow ‘Saree’. Both of them represented the essence of South India with their attire. We were a bit early so we took a few shots of them as they had fun before the sunset. After that, as the sun set we captured them with the orange light of dusk creating a glow on their skin. Throughout the shoot, the couple kept smiling. We were glad to be able to shoot them in that lighting and setting.
